THE ROLE OF A COUNTRY’S STATUS IN THE EAEU IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PROSPECTS FOR EXPANDING THE INTEGRATION ASSOCIATION

Abstract

In the modern world, integration associations created with the aim of liberalizing world trade and promoting the economic development of their member countries are playing an increasingly important role in the world economy. Depending on the foreign economic and foreign policy priorities of the country, its status in the integration associations is designated. So, in the course of writing this article, based on empirical and theoretical research methods, it was possible to: 1) determine the difference from the political and economic points of view between the types of countries’ participation in the international organization of regional economic integration – the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU): EAEU member country; EAEU observer country; a country that has signed a memorandum of cooperation / understanding with the EAEU; a country that has signed an agreement on trade and economic cooperation with the EAEU; a country that has signed an agreement on a free trade zone with the EAEU; countries conducting negotiations on obtaining the status of the EAEUobserver country, on signing a memorandum of cooperation / mutual understanding with the EAEU; on the signing of an agreement on a free trade zone with the EAEU; 2) highlight the main reasons for countries to obtain observer status with the EAEU; 3) analyze the current state (in relation to mutual trade) and the prospects for the expansion of the integration association. Recently, there has been a tendency towards the expansion and development of the EAEU; the article highlights the strategic directions for the integration development and the advantages acquired by countries, depending on their status in the EAEU.
